It was love at first sight when by chance Chef Cooper first stumbled upon Sitka's beautiful community while hitchhiking on a sailboat. He honed both his appreciation for and prowess preparing the local ingredients in the following years studying underneath the chefs of Ludvig's Bistro & Campfire Kitchen while exploring the archipelago on his boat during free time. Cooper began his career as a teenager in fine dining kitchens of the California wine country and catering in San Francisco. Landing in Sitka was the culmination to a multi-yearlong, whirlwind food tour spanning cooking classes across five different continents. Chef Cooper co-owns Red Herring with his eccentric lawyer / fellow pitmaster.
